It is impossible for us to answer the often posed question, “How much does one
of your cakes cost?” The more intricate and extravagant the design and
decoration the more labor intensive the cake, hence the higher the cake price.
You will find this to be true not just with Sweet Traders but with the majority
of bakeries.
Our cakes range from $3.75 to $15.00 per serving; however most of our customers
seem to choose cake designs which fall within the $4.50 to $7.50 price range.
Cheesecakes start at $4.50 per serving and vary according to decoration
required. If you have a guest list exceeding 100 people, we can make a smaller
cake to serve 100 people with supplemental sheet cakes priced at $3.00 per
serving. These are undecorated but filled and frosted to match the main cake.
Couples with more intimate weddings of between 15 to 20 quests sometimes prefer
mini cakes or cupcakes over one large main cake. Single tier mini’s are
generally priced between $7.00-$10.00 each, 2 tier mini’s between $10.00-$15.00
each, however these prices can fluctuate depending upon complexity of design.
Cupcakes are priced from $3.00-$4.00.
A non-refundable fee of $50.00 is required once you have finalized your booking
with us and will be deducted from your final bill. We recommend that wedding
cakes be booked no less than two months in advance of your reception date.
For event cakes or unusual cakes we tend to price on a project basis. This is
often due to the extreme customization of the cake either in its shape, size,
and degree of detail or all of these factors.
Understanding Pricing
To help you understand cake pricing we have created a list of criteria which
contribute to an increase in a cakes’ price: sugar paste flowers, iridescent
dustings, intricate piped / hand painted art work, multiple color matching,
multiple custom shape cut outs in sugarpaste, sugarpaste bows, chocolate
shells, custom cake shape construction and offset tiers, hand made sugar paste
figurines or objects.

Quotes
If you would like a quote on a cake there is a strict list of criteria we must
have in order to help you with an accurate quote. If you are unable to supply
us with this information, unfortunately we will not be able to respond to your
request.
- How many does the cake need to serve?
- Basic design description and decoration desired? Where possible email us a
picture of a similar cake.
- Date & time cake is needed?
- Delivery address including zip code or if you will collect? Cake collection
is not applicable to wedding cakes over a single tier or large event cakes.
Cake Serving Sizes
The traditional wedding serving size is a one by two inch slice and our cakes
are sized accordingly with the top tier counted as being served, unless you
specifically request otherwise. Should you desire a larger server slice please
advise us at the time of your consultation. Below is a guide to cake sizes and
servings using round and square pans only.

Cake Set Up
A normal cake set-up can take anywhere from 15-40 minutes and is normally done
by the cake designer to ensure correct results, this is all part of Sweet
Traders personalized service for you. For cupcake towers however, there is a
$10.00 set up fee. During the busy wedding season time is precious, and
although rare indeed, if we are forced to stay over 40 minutes through no fault
of own, (cake table not ready, cake flowers not arrived etc.) an additional fee
of $20.00 will be added to your bill.
Stand Rental
Silver cake plateau’s can often be used to add height to a cake or simply
enhance the overall look. They come in round or square shapes of differing
sizes and are on average 7 inches in height.
Clear acrylic tube stands also serve the same purpose but are a more modern
addition to the cake stand family. Our stands have a removable top so the tubes
may be filled with a variety of items that take your fancy, sand and seashells,
real or imitation rose petals, flowers even colored organza. They come in
varying heights to help imitate the traditional tier look.
There is $25.00 rental on cake plateaus and acrylic stands and a refundable
deposit of $200.00 to ensure their safe return home. Stands should be returned
2 weeks after your reception date, unless otherwise negotiated at the time of
your cake consultation.
Each cake has its own set of separating plates, pillars (whether visible or
not) and a base board. A refundable deposit of $30.00 is also required for
their safe return home.
Cake Boxes
Our cakes are so tasty the guests go back for seconds, however on the rare
occasion there are leftovers, we supply cake boxes for you to take your cake
home at no extra charge.
